All leaseholders will have recently received letters from Mainstay informing them of their latest gaffe:- that being their failure to include ground rent within the most recent service charge demands.

Despite the late June bills clearly stating that ground rent payment was included, it now transpires that it was not. Nevertheless, and despite it being yet another Mainstay mistake, this did not deter them from subsequently pursuing a number of leaseholders for "arrears", even though those leaseholders had in good faith paid all that had been demanded of them at the time.!

Whereas the above is bad enough in itself, the letter of "apology" only serves to exacerbate matters, for it goes on to request payment from all leaseholders (a.s.a.p.) of the sum of £300, the sum supposedly outstanding.

(They have also overlooked the fact that payment of ground rent is twice yearly, so no-one would be liable to pay such a sum.!)

But the errors do not stop there, for even more embarrassingly Mainstay has clearly overlooked the fact that ground rent payment was not even payable until July 30th: that being the due date stated within the Section 166 Notices that are legally required to accompany all ground rent demands...
